Two years agio I was given a dvd about world peace and being a child of the sixties it brought back memories of the C.N.D campagn and marchers for world peace and being a natural cynic I thought it was a waste of time watching this DVD because world peace is a pipe dream.
Then I watched this film. Please read the letter below by Jeremy Gilley who against all odds initiated Peace One Day.
I founded Peace One Day in 1999 to document my efforts to create an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence with a fixed calendar date. In 2001, POD achieved its primary objective. United Nations General Assembly resolution (A/Res/55/282) was unanimously adopted by UN member states, formally establishing an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace, fixed in the global calendar on 21 September - Peace Day.
With the Day in place, POD's main aim is to raise awareness of Peace Day 21 September. POD is a non-profit organisation, impartial and independent of any government, political
persuasion, corporation or religious creed.
In 2007 according to the UN, over 100 million people were active on Peace Day, in 192 countries. There were life-saving initiatives in 14 countries, and over 80 activities in Afghanistan alone where 1.4 million children were vaccinated against polio.
I hope you'll make your own commitment for Peace Day and log it on this website. By working together there will be Peace One Day. We look forward to hearing from you.

This film has inspired me like no other and as a result we, at The Centre , have worked towards Peace One Day.
This year we are holding two screenings of the documentary 19th and 26th August 7.30 and holding a special event on Peace Day 21st September 6.30 .
Please think about coming to our event or holding your own. It may be with a group or just remembreing it in your heart and making your own committment to Peace One Day.
