The 19th century French poet, Alphonse de Lamartine, wrote:- "What is our life but a series of preludes to that unknown song whose fist and solemn note is sounded by death". I wonder if he knew how close he was to the realization of the souls immortality and its step by step progression through life after life, or as he so eloquently expresses it, from prelude to prelude./ I'm sure he did have some idea as his words ring clearly with truth. As has been shown down through the ages by many very enlightened souls, this Earthly sojourn is but one of many in a long, long series of inhabiting differing bodies of expression all for the one purpose of the souls and the spirits evolution, uncountable millenniums of learning, of reaping what was sown, for good or bad, in the vast symphony of that eternal life in whom all of life lives, moves and has its being. That inscrutable , ageless life about whom naught may be said, sounds the note of each new age and all the waves of evolution, from the elemental to the human proceed further each sounding in turn their own specific life note, composing, together with all the stars and other worlds, in total the vast cosmic song of the universe.
Of course not all the notes are harmonious for the interplay of the negative and the destructive is as much a part of this interplay. Nevertheless, the light, the good and the truth will always be the greater for it is the matrix, the very essence of that vast being who holds in His hands all that is.
As people learn to live as souls, consciously, over the coming centuries, expressing ever more perfectly the note of the undying spirit-self, so will they be drawn that closer, that deeper into the radiant light of the ineffable.
It is a truth beyond dispute that where once a individual was blind and deaf to the note of the soul, now upon beginning this conscious journey, they can travel the highways and byways of life with hugely augmented senses.
That which was once ordinary and unassuming now shines and reflects the essence of the divine. The fragrance of the Earth and the air after a thunderstorm is that more sweeter and refreshing, what was once a insignificant little flower in a rocky crevice, shines like a jewel, the early morning dew on grass, leaf and petal, radiate like gems, the call of the dove and the twittering of the wild birds in the solitude of the forest resounds in the heart so that one feels a kinship with all of life and know beyond all doubt, that one cannot cause the least harm. So when in doubt or worn down by the many hardships, trials and and problems we humans must endure, it would help hugely to recall those previous revelations when the gates of the divine briefly opened and one knew a serenity beyond compare.
As the late Clare Cameron, editor of what was the Science of Thought Review in England, and a extraordinary poet and visionary wrote:- "A larger land beyond our low horizons in all its unimagined mystery lies. We long for it, yet secretly we fear it, its light too bright for unaccustomed eyes. In footfall of a friend, in quickened heartbeat, some echo of its trumpets haunts the mind, some vision of a pure and ancient music to which we walked, whereto we were assigned". Many see then life and creation through the eyes of the inspired poet. Of course it must be remembered that one cannot constantly be in this state of grace. If we were we would have attained masterhood, however, these moments of wonder when they occur strengthen ones resolve, ones waning faith and trust and direct ones feet again upon the inner path. It is so easy to fall prey to the chaos, the devastation, the awfulness of mans inhumanity to his fellow humans, to feel you cannot carry on as you feel so sick, so begrimed and broken in heart and wonder of what use is the continual prayers, meditations, invocations and service. On all sides, everywhere in the world we are confronted by the total disregard for the sanctity of all life. Against this evil one feels hopeless and bewildered. But then the following must be remembered:- Has this rampaging evil been able to besmirch the beauty of nature, to cloak the light of the sun, to extinguish the celestial spheres? This evil is truly insignificant when measured against the divine power which is cosmic love in expression.
And so, one needs to hold this truth before ones inner eye in letters of fire and know that ultimately all is well, that divine cosmic purpose is proceeding and that this age of Aquarius as it nears its mid-point will reveal that magnificence with the brotherhood of man finally emerging as a way of radiant life on this planet.
